Here’s a cool idea to keep your pets close to you even when you’re paying those nasty bills. You might be aware that you can purchase custom design checks that have all kind of pictures on them–even cats and dogs. But now it’s very easy to put your own pet’s picture on your bank checks. They look great and are totally compliant with banking standards.

There are a number of custom check printing companies out there. But recently, I found Carousel Checks—an accredited Better Business Bureau organization. They’re a company that not only has a wide selection of ready-made photo designed checks you can choose from—they also let you design your own custom checks by using your own photos. Imagine having your own cat or dog’s image on your own personal checks. You can show off your furry friends while paying for items at the store or when sending payment for your bills. They’re a whole lot nicer looking than your standard, mundane bank issued checks.

You can order your checks directly from the Carousel Checks website. Unlike some check printers, they can print your photo across the whole check and fade the image just enough so it doesn’t block out your writing on it. To place your order, all you need to do is go to the Personal Checks menu item on their website and select “Custom Photo Checks”. You then select the number of checks you want to order and whether you want singles or duplicate checks. Next you just click the Add to Cart button. You’ll be given the option to add fraud protection to your check order. This is totally optional so just click the No option if you don’t want this addition.

Then on the next screen you enter your personal and banking information into their secured web page. You can easily copy this data from one of your existing checks. The last part of this form is where you can upload your own photos to be used on the checks. For each picture you want on a check, you click the Upload button and navigate to the picture file on your computer. The first photo you add is free. Any additional pictures you want to include cost $5 each. You can have as many as 24 images which will be rotated in your checkbook. One obligatory note: Just make sure the images you submit are your own and that you are the copyright owner. That way you will avoid any trademark or copyright issues.

After entering all of your check information and uploading your photos, you click the button to Review and Confirm your order. Your check order is usually processed within 72 hours after they receive your payment and information. You can choose how you want your checks shipped to you—from bulk mail all the way up to UPS Next Day.
